Carlos Alman: Biography, Family, Career, and Life in 2026

Carlos Alman is a name that appears frequently in searches about Cardi B’s family, although reliable sources generally identify the person being searched as Carlos Almánzar or Carlos Almanzar. He is best known as the father of rapper Cardi B, whose birth name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar. Unlike his daughter, Carlos has largely remained outside the entertainment spotlight.

His public story is closely connected to his Dominican heritage, immigration to the United States, years working as a New York City cab driver, and family life in New York. Cardi B has spoken publicly about her parents and upbringing, providing much of the reliable information available about her father. PEOPLE identifies Carlos Almánzar as Dominican and reports that he worked as a New York City cab driver, while Reuters photographed Cardi B with her father Carlos Almanzar at a Washington Heights event in September 2025.

At the same time, numerous websites publish precise claims about his age, birthday, net worth, height, and other private details. Those claims are not equally well documented, so a useful 2026 biography should distinguish verified information from repeated online speculation.

Who Is Carlos Alman?

Carlos Alman generally refers to Carlos Almánzar, Cardi B’s Dominican-born father. The shortened name “Carlos Alman” is widely used in search results and celebrity biography headlines, but established reporting uses Carlos Almánzar or Carlos Almanzar. Cardi B herself has publicly identified her father as Carlos Julio Almanzar, according to secondary reporting that preserved her earlier statements.

Carlos is not primarily known for a career in entertainment. His public recognition developed because his daughter became one of the most prominent figures in modern hip-hop. Before Cardi B became internationally famous, Carlos lived a comparatively ordinary working life in New York.

PEOPLE reports that Carlos came from the Dominican Republic and worked as a New York City cab driver. The same source explains that Carlos and Clara Almánzar raised Cardi B and her younger sister, Hennessy Carolina, around the South Bronx and Washington Heights.

That background is important because Cardi B has frequently discussed her family’s working-class circumstances and Dominican and Trinidadian heritage when describing her childhood.

Carlos Alman Early Life and Dominican Background

The strongest biographical information about Carlos concerns his Dominican roots. He was born in the Dominican Republic before moving to the United States. Reporting based on Cardi B’s own comments states that he immigrated to the United States in 1990.

His family’s background later became an important part of Cardi B’s identity. Cardi’s father is Dominican, while her mother, Clara Almánzar, is Trinidadian. PEOPLE reports that the family lived in New York and that Cardi spent time both in the South Bronx and at her paternal grandmother’s home in Washington Heights.

Information about Carlos’s own childhood, parents, education, and early years in the Dominican Republic is considerably more limited. Unlike his daughter, he has not maintained a highly documented public career or regularly given interviews.

For this reason, searches for Carlos Alman age, Carlos Alman birthday, or detailed childhood information often produce conflicting answers. Some secondary sites report that he was born in 1958, with one frequently repeated date being March 19, but major sources reviewed do not independently establish the precise birth date. Consequently, the reported year should be treated as an unverified biographical claim, rather than a firmly established fact.

Carlos Alman Career as a New York Taxi Driver

One of the best-documented aspects of Carlos Alman’s life is his work as a taxi driver in New York City.

PEOPLE identifies him as a former New York City cab driver and connects that working life to the family environment in which Cardi B grew up. Reporting about Cardi’s childhood has repeatedly emphasized that her parents worked to support their family while living in New York.

Cardi B’s public comments have also helped establish her father’s occupation. Secondary reporting on her statements says Carlos worked as a cab driver for nine years after arriving in the United States.

The occupation provides useful context for understanding why Carlos appears in biographies of Cardi B. His importance to her story is not based on celebrity status but on his role as a parent and working member of a New York immigrant family.

His current occupation is less certain. Many websites describe him as retired, while stronger reporting generally focuses on his past work as a cab driver. There is not enough authoritative information to establish his current employment situation with precision.

Carlos Alman, Clara Almánzar, and Family Life

Carlos Almánzar and Clara Almánzar are publicly known as Cardi B’s parents. The couple later separated and divorced. PEOPLE reports that their daughter was around 13 years old when her parents divorced.

Carlos and Clara raised Cardi B and Hennessy Carolina, Cardi’s younger sister. Cardi B was born in New York City in 1992, and the family maintained connections to both the South Bronx and Washington Heights.

Although Carlos and Clara eventually ended their marriage, Cardi B has continued to speak positively about both parents. Public reporting has described Carlos as remaining an important figure in his daughter’s life, including his role as a grandfather to her children.

The public record does not provide a complete picture of Carlos’s private family life. Consequently, claims about additional marriages, exact numbers of children, or detailed personal relationships should be approached cautiously unless supported by reliable sources.

Carlos Alman and Cardi B’s Rise to Fame

Carlos became much more recognizable as his daughter Cardi B rose from a social-media personality and reality television figure to a global rap star.

Cardi B’s professional breakthrough accelerated after her appearance on Love & Hip Hop: New York, followed by the enormous success of “Bodak Yellow” in 2017. Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, followed in 2018 and became a major commercial and critical success.

As Cardi’s fame expanded, public interest naturally turned toward her parents and childhood. Carlos’s Dominican background became especially relevant because Cardi has repeatedly discussed the cultural influences of her family.

His connection to Cardi has also resulted in several public appearances. In September 2025, Reuters photographed Cardi B arriving with her father, identified as Carlos Almanzar, at a bodega event in Washington Heights, New York.

That appearance provides relatively recent evidence that Carlos remained connected to his daughter’s public life while still maintaining a much lower profile than she does.

Carlos Alman in 2026

The public record also demonstrates why his name can be confusing. “Carlos Alman” is a common search phrase, while stronger sources use Carlos Almánzar or Carlos Almanzar. Recent Reuters coverage from 2025 confirms the father-daughter identification using the Almanzar spelling.

There is also a different Carlos Alman credited as a voice actor in the animated children’s series Kate and Mim-Mim. IMDb lists that Carlos Alman as the voice of Gobble in 15 episodes, meaning searches for the name can refer to two different people.

Presenting those details cautiously gives readers a more accurate 2026 profile of Carlos Alman while avoiding the unsupported information that frequently appears in online celebrity biographies.
